About Dr. John J Regan
Dr. John James Regan is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon and a pioneer in minimally invasive spinal surgery, practicing in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, California. He earned his bachelor's degree from Brown University and his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University College of Medicine in 1978. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals, followed by an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of North Carolina. He is one of few surgeons to have completed two fellowships in spine care: one in spine trauma at A.O. International Hospital in Switzerland and another at Johns Hopkins University Hospital. Dr. Regan was a key physician at the Texas Back Institute (the first spine specialty clinic in the US) from 1986 to 1995. In 2001, he was recruited by Cedars-Sinai to serve as Director of the Cedars Sinai Institute for Spinal Disorders. He pioneered Video-Assisted Thoracic Spine Surgery (VATS) and the use of endoscopic instruments in spine surgery. He has published numerous research papers and has taught surgical techniques internationally.
